Earlier today (April 23, 2004) we received notice that the Supreme Court of Texas has denied the State of Texas petition to review the tax-exempt status case they brought against the Ethical Society of Austin.  The State of Texas may now appeal to the U.S. Supreme Court however, the attorneys for the Austin Society have “confidence” the Court would not accept.  The State of Texas has just a few weeks to make this appeal.

Toni Morrison and Cornel West Exchange Available

Nobel Laureate and celebrated author Toni Morrison, appeared in conversation with leading public intellectual Cornel West in a historic exchange on race, politics and culture on March 24th. at the  New York Society for Ethical Culture.

The sold out event, presented by The Nation Institute and co-sponsored by the New York Society for Ethical Culture, was covered by BET Nightly News and C-Span.
