Please read the
expectations and guidelines before subscribing or posting to any of
these lists.
To unsubscribe from the mailing lists after you have subscribed,
please follow the directions which come when you initially subscribed,
or find the email list's online page.
Note: AEU lists require that you confirm your
subscription when you first subscribe. This will prevent others from
subscribing you without your permission, and will verify that the email
address provided actually reaches you. In addition, you will probably
get an email message asking to which Society you belong or whether
you're an at-large member or a friend of the AEU, and, depending on the
purpose of the list, perhaps also asking you to identify yourself by
name and/or role. This is necessary to keep the topics targeted and to
keep subscriber email addresses from being harvested for mass emailing.
Basic mailing lists available are:
Sending Messages
You communicate to the mailing lists and the mailing list software by e-mail. There are
two types of messages you can send: "postings" and "requests."
Postings are messages that you want the mailing list software (called
"Mailman") to distribute to an entire list. Each list has a unique address
where all postings (and only postings) should be sent. For example, messages to be
distributed to the Dialogue list should be
sent to dialogue@aeu.org.
Your entire message, including the "subject" line, will be sent to everyone
without any changes. Please note that you must "subscribe" to a list (see below)
before it will accept your postings.
Requests
Each list also has a unique address where
subscription problems should be sent - it is the same as the listname,
but with -admin added to the list's title. Thus, subscription
problems with the Dialogue list should be sent to
dialogue-admin@aeu.org. And each list has a web page for subscribing, list information, and
unsubscribing. These pages can be found for public lists at
http://ethicalculture.org/mailman/listinfo/ and each list has
its own page which is this address plus the name of the list --
Dialogue's page, for instance, is at
http://ethicalculture.org/mailman/listinfo/dialogue.
More Help
For more help with the technology of AEU email lists, see the
Mailman List
Member Manual (on another site). Not all the features listed there
may be available on any particular AEU list, but it does answer the most
common technical questions that mailing list members may have.
