Linking to the AEU web site?

We prefer a text link.  Suggested text: American Ethical Union or Ethical Culture (link to http://www.aeu.org/ ) or Find an Ethical Society (link to http://www.aeu.org/society.html ).

Ethical Culture Logo

You may use any of the small graphics to the right to link to the American Ethical Union (www.aeu.org). No further permission is required for their use for that purpose.

You must copy the image to your server as we periodically change the names of the images to prevent "bandwidth borrowing."

For use of other graphics on these pages please Email to request permission to use them, and please link to this page and give proper credit for their copyright. Graphics copyright © 1997 and 1998 Email. All rights reserved.

Submitting to the AEU website?

Official committees of the AEU are urged to submit news of AEU-wide, national and general interest to be considered for inclusion on the AEU website.  Proposed material is more likely to be included in a timely fashion if you:

bullet

Submit a short news item or a "blurb" introducing longer material that will be included elsewhere on the site. See the AEU News page for suggested style.

bullet

Submit dates to the AEU Calendar on the calendar page using the form there

bullet

Please suggest the page (URL) where the material would best fit into the organization of the site

bullet

Submit a version of flyers and registration forms in Word or already converted to Adobe Acrobat (.pdf) format.  Not everyone can download and read Word (.doc) documents, so these will usually be converted to Adobe Acrobat (.pdf) format.
bullet

Use only standard fonts (Times Roman or Arial are preferred).

bullet

Format for standard letter-size paper with at least 1 inch margins.

bullet

Use images only free of copyright restrictions and if needed. Also make sure each image is no larger than 30K in size (check your file directory for the size of image files) to save precious space on the AEU server and save downloading time.

bullet

Submit a version of the flyer or announcement that will convert easily to web format. Check other pages on this site for style, and consider what is easy and effective to read online.  Word documents do not easily translate to web pages. If composing in Word for converting to an AEU web page, follow these simple guidelines:
bullet

Keep margins so that the page width from right to left is only 4 inches.

bullet

Use no fonts larger than 14 points are used.  Ten points is preferable for most text, with 12 for headlines if desired.

bullet

Use only standard fonts (Tahoma, Trebuchet, Times Roman and Arial are preferred).

bullet

Don't include page breaks, columns or tables; if you want separate pages, submit each as a separate document file.

bullet

Paragraph formatting will be lost -- for instance, every paragraph return will produce a double space, paragraph indenting will likely be lost.

bullet

Centering is usually not an appealing format online.

bullet

Bullet points work well online, up to two or three levels.  (This bullet is level 2.)

bullet

Unless essential and free of copyright restrictions, don't include images and make sure each image is smaller than 30K in size (smaller is even better).
